Description:Plans welding technique and sequence of welding operations on complete assemblies so that enclosed or overlapping component parts are welded in proper order to allow maximum accessibility to areas to be welded and to reduce distortions and strains to a minimum. Uses gas, arc, TIG, MIG, Orbital and Plasma arc welding method according to established trade practice, blueprints, sketches, verbal and written instructions.

Performs such typical operations as welding by Tig, Mig, Orbital, gas, arc or helium arc structural and/or aircraft assemblies of various types and sizes, where extreme care must be exercised to prevent leaks and cracks. Welds parts and assemblies which are to be machined to exacting tolerances where over-all penetrations must be uniform. Preheats own work by use of a torch.

Performs such typical operations as Tig, Mig, Orbital, gas, arc and helium arc welding of parts and/or assemblies of light gauge material (.032 inches or lighter); light gauge material to heavy stock (.090 or thicker); stiffeners inserted in assemblies difficult of access; overhead inverted welding where materials are readily destroyed by over application of heat; assemblies and/or parts requiring welds close to edge (within .25 inches or less) where edge may be readily burned off and part and/or assembly rendered totally useless; thick stock (.090 or thicker) where part and/or assembly is easily damaged and where any imperfections in penetration of weld are not permissible.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience with TIG welding of various metals and alloys on assemblies and other non-production parts and assemblies, to support aircraft production or tooling requirements.

Experience with setting up and operating various types of spot, roll, and portable welding machines.
