Currently, we have an opening within our Fabrication Department for a Welder/Fabricator.

The primary responsibility of this position is to steel and aluminum parts for use in the assembly of Taco Metals products. This position will also be responsible for some fabrication and assembly (20%), when required, to ensure our manufacturing operations meet management and customer expectations. This position is an hourly non-exempt position and will report directly to the Production Supervisor.

The Primary Duties and Responsibilities for this position are:

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

Operate torches and other welding tools to fuse or disassemble metal components.

Examine material for defects and chip or grind off excess weld to ensure a clean and smooth finish.

Measure finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications per work order.

Modify parts using heated cutting tools.

Clean finished product with appropriate cleansers and/or tools.

Notify the Supervisor of any faulty or inoperable equipment immediately.

Record time worked per work order on the daily log.

Maintain a high production level, meeting, or exceeding job standards.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Contribute to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts.

Attend training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.

All other duties assigned.

Requirements for this position are:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

3 years welding experience with aluminum, stainless steel, and tool steels.

3 years welding experience within a manufacturing environment.

3 years welding experience in both MIG and TIG

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

Ability to read and comprehend blueprints/drawings.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to use various welding techniques, MIG & TIG.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

Continuous contact with other people requiring communication via face-to-face, orally by telephone, and various written methodologies.

Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time

Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.

Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Manufacturing environment, which requires the use of hearing protection.

Visual Acuity: Able to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading, viewing measurement equipment. This is within a manufacturing environment and requires the use of safety glasses to prevent harm to the eyes. At the risk of injury from metal from the fabrication process.
