Overview

Matrix is hiring 2nd year to Journeyman Welders for a project in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

$34.20/hour for a 3rd-year apprentice

$28.50/hour for a 2nd-year apprentice

Shift Time for Apprentice Welder:
Work Hours – 6 AM to 4:30 PM – paid 10-hour day.

Shift – Starting on a Tuesday – 10 days on – 4 days off (50 hour work week with 44 RT and 6 OT based on shift)

Responsibilities for Apprentice Welder:
Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices of clients.

Lead, manage and hold accountable assigned employees.

Ensure that any equipment or material being used is in good repair and maintained.

Be available for dispatch at any time, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, within reason

Make sure he advises his direct supervisor if he is licensed or experienced in the operation of any equipment or tools he is directed to operate or use. (Or vice versa)

Report all safety concerns in verbal or written form to the Supervisor.

Ensure all safety tickets are up to date.

To provide safe, quality, and on-time work habits to clients and the customer at all times.

Provide 24-hour notice if going to be absent for a shift with an excusable absence.

The Apprentice does not supervise anybody unless designated as a lead hand, then he/she may supervise any apprentice designated by his superintendent or immediate supervisor.

Requirements for Apprentice Welder:
Steel-toed boots

Valid Fluxcore all position ticket

Must follow, participate and adhere to the HSE program.

Standard First Aid

Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications

Have a working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures.

Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of material.

Have thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases, and gas welding filler rods

Recognize defective welds, know the cause, and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area.

Have a working knowledge of the required regulatory codes.
