Welder-Shop

Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, Shop Welder position available at our Waco, Texas location. This position is responsible to perform basic to comprehensive welding repairs and new fabrications while learning and developing technical skills.

Essential Functions:
Performs basic and comprehensive repair welds on equipment and components

Performs basic and comprehensive arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting

Fabricates new components from shop drawings and/or blueprints

Works as a member of a team to provide basic technical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals

Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs

Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork

Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications

Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order

Performs tasks under minimal supervision

Assists other Welders

Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations

Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Broad knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Broad knowledge of current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems

Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work

Verbal and written communication skills

Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding

Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated

Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

Ability to read, write, and understand information

Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent

One to Three years’ experience acceptable. Prefers three to five years of welding experience.

Additional Requirements:
Must own tools to perform repairs

Travel:
Up to 10% travel may be required
