Welder- 6G SMAW

Trenergy is a 100 percent locally owned fabrication plant in St. Catharines, Ontario specializing in the manufacture of boilers, pressure vessels, rail tank cars and more. We are looking for experienced welders to join our growing team. We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package including RRSP contributions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interacts with lead hands, supervisors and managers to help meet plant SAFETY, QUALITY and PRODUCTION goals.
  • Receives instructions and work orders for job.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded, as required.
  • Operates air carbon arc equipment for weld preparation.
  • Sets machines, and performs a wide variety of manual welding in all positions, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW, being qualified to meet the specifications set forth in the A.S.M.E. Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, as amended, in accordance with established welding procedures.
  • May perform GMAW, SAW, FCAW and semi-automatic and automatic welding.
  • May perform GTAW automatic welding.
  • May perform oxy-acetylene welding.
  • Sets up, operates, and adjusts fin to tube and fin to fin welding machine, sub-arc welding machines, controlling speed of machine, feed of wire, and heat, as required.
  • Preheats, post-heats, cleans, and grinds welded joints.
  • Handles materials in work area using hoists, rolls, etc.
  • Exercises all safety precautions.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Prepares for N.D.T. and/or Inspection.
  • Operates main stress relieve furnace.
  • Participates in continual improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in training of junior team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • S.M.E. or CWB Certifications.
  • Competent in blue print reading.
  • Knowledge of fitting and welding in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Excellent team work and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems and procedures.
  • Crane and lifting device experience.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Welding school/college diploma is an asset.

Required experience:

  • 3 to 5 years work related experience.
