We are looking to recruit a Welder to join our team at Sparrows in Slidell, Louisiana.

The main purpose of the Welder is fits and weld components to complete a weldment per AWS D1.1 Code.

Main Responsibilities

  • Properly weld component parts to Welding Procedures and AWS D1.1 Code.
  • Stamp welder ID on completed welds.
  • Responsible for providing own hand tools.
  • Must be able to perform independent welding duties.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment. (i.e. forklift)
  • Assist with training of Welder B in the areas of product knowledge, welding techniques and interpreting drawings.
  • Ensure company owned equipment is properly used.
  • Perform all other duties as required by Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

HSEQ Responsibilities

  • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company’s HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their

Line Manager.

  • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, welding and fitting, in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must be able to get certified in 3G position on 1” plate.
  • Ability to weld and get certified in 6GR position.
  • Able to read and interpret weld sizes and symbols on design drawing.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision.
