Cato Construction is an OEM of Mining & Mineral processing Equipment as well as being an Industrial Contractor for the Brick Industry and Industrial Mineral Markets.

Fabrication shop fitter/welder qualifications should include:

Welding flat, vertical, overhead. Lay out, position, align, secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly. Assemble metal parts/products. Examine work-pieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications.

Recognize, set up, operate hand and power tools common to welding trade – shielded metal arc and gas metal arc equipment. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding and submerged arc welding.

Weld separately or in combination using aluminum, stainless, cast iron and other alloys. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. Trim excess material and prepare work pieces.

Ability to read and analyze nest drawings, blueprints, specs and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly and welding operations. Knowledge of templates and models for welding projects using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information.

Operate safety equipment and knowledge of safe work habits.

Work is performed in our Brenham shop during the 7:30-4:30 shift or at jobsites in the surrounding area. Background check, Pre-employment physical and Drug screen test are required.
