We are seeking Welders and Welder-Fitters to join our heavy fabrication and machining team at Valco Manufacturing Inc.

What you’ll get to do
Select the welding equipment required and plan a sequence of welding operations
Prepare the material and tooling, by grinding, carbon arc, scale removal or beveling, prior to welding to ensure that the correct welding practices are maintained throughout the process
Ensure that the correct amount of weld is used based on the customer’s requirements and the best welding practices and standards
Inspect the weld site for imperfections or fissures in the weld, using weld gauges and weld defect analysis, and to make repairs as required

As a Welder/Fitter (above +)

Interpret drawings and weld symbols, inclusive of familiarity with and understanding of GD&T standards
Lay out, position, align and secure the details to be welded using measuring and scribing devices, clamps, and tacked welds
Shape metal components using arc or flame-cutting equipment to the specified dimensions or to repair damaged metal components
“Five Why” root cause analysis on all non-conforming conditions or occurrences
What you bring
A completed high school diploma or equivalent
Completed Apprentice Program and Certification in the trade by the Province of Ontario would be a bonus
Ability to read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and weld defect identification
A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives

As a Welder/Fitter (above +)

Familiar with quality assurance methods and best practices, including GD&T
Proven competency and strength in mathematics
Ability to read and interpret drawings in both first and third-angle projection
