Overview

NOV is seeking a Welder to join our team in Leduc, AB. We are accepting applications from those who have apprenticeship status, mainly 2nd and 3rd year The successful candidate will work under general supervision and be responsible for performing welding tasks such as maintaining, fabricating, manufacturing and repairing oilfield equipment. They will also be responsible for completing tasks through written and/or oral instructions and to follow established procedures.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Welding (MIG, TIG, Flux Arc, etc.),Hard surfacing and Silver soldering
  • Preparation for assigned welding tasks, including grinding
  • Cutting components with a torch, plasma or saw as necessary
  • Use and maintain tools, material handling equipment and welding equipment
  • Fitting and measuring materials
  • Daily overhead crane usage after course completion
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements (Minimum Education and Experience):

  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • Apprenticeship status.
  • 2 – 4 year’s experience preferred;
  • Overhead Crane Course is an asset but will train in house if necessary;
  • Experience with basic tools required;
  • Training provided on the job for Apprentice Welders.

Technical Requirements (Software or Program Knowledge Needed):

  • Knowledge of welding machines & associated equipment.

HSE Requirements (Training and Physical Requirements):

  • Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits, propane storage) and yard environment (building locations, processes);
  • Squatting, bending, reaching, and walking (further details to be reviewed on JHA);
  • PPE training for possible noise exposure, mists/vapors, gloves, safety glasses and steel toed boots;
  • NOV in-house forklift training if required;
  • WHMIS training;
  • NOV in-house Overhead/Jib crane training;
  • Hand & Power tool safety training.
