Job Description

Terrafirma Resources is seeking a competent welder helper to support the activities of our welding team. Working out of our Rocky Mountain House & Leslieville Fabrication Facilities as well as various on site locations (Pipeline , Facility Construction) the welder helper assists Journeyman/B-Pressure welder(s) with welding projects and ensures an organized work environment and adequate maintenance of equipment and materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas.
  • Assisting welders to set up rigs and move them between work areas.
  • Ensuring welders have required materials and tools available, such as rods and grinding discs.
  • Maintaining stock levels of materials and supplies.
  • Loading and unloading trucks of material to be welded
  • Following welders’ instructions to adjust welding machine temperatures.
  • Using buffers and grinders to clean welds & bevel pipe.
  • Maintaining knowledge of various types of metal.
  • Operating various tools and types of equipment.
  • Attending on-site & in house safety meetings and following Terrafirma’s Safety Policies & Procedures.
  • ability to work away for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year work experience in a similar role
  • 1st, 2nd year apprentice is preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of all aspects of welding and associated processes.
  • Basic English reading and writing skills.
  • Physically strong, agile and dexterous , able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Reliable , Punctual .
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended hours.
  • Comfortable with working on elevated surfaces.
  • Resilient to working in adverse climatic conditions.
  • Knowledge of Isometric prints and an ability to read and interperet drawings.
  • Local to Rocky Mountain House area is preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

– Drivers License

· H2S

· CSO or PCST or CSTS or eGSO

· First Aid w/ CPR an asset

– CWB Certification an asset

· Site-Specific Training will be provided

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$30.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Rocky Mountain House, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Welding Related: 1 year (preferred)
  • Pipeline Construction: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Drivers License (preferred)
