Micro Tool & Machine Ltd. (MTM) is a privately held globally recognized firm that designs and manufactures proprietary CNC robotic based tools, assembly platforms, jigs and fixtures required for the manufacture of distribution and medium size power transformers. Located in Winnipeg Canada, MTM has serviced this industry globally for over 55 years. In conjunction with its products, MTM’s also provides specialty engineered and manufactured equipment solutions for customers with unique requirements.

MTM is currently looking to hire an experienced welder/assembler. The sucessfull candidate will weld components used in the building of machinery and assist in the fabrication and/or assemble of equipment as needed. Must be capable of excelling in a precise, dynamic and fast paced environment.

Duties are as follows:

  • Read and interpret machining, welding and assembly drawings including Bills of Materials.
  • Verify dimensions of parts according to drawings using precision measuring instruments as needed prior to assembly.
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
  • MIG and (occasional stick weld) a small variety of steels in thicknesses ranging from 1/8″ to 1.5″.
  • Clean and dress all welds for post processing (painting/plating)

The following skills are an asset and may be required in order to succeed in the role:

  • Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, hoisting / lifting, moving, and leveling of heavy equipment components.
  • Experience with manual machine tools (Boring, drill presses, milling machines, surface grinders, lathes, etc…).
  • Experience with various hand tools used in assembly (air tools, torque wrench, etc…)

This individual will posses mechanical aptitude and will be capable of working in a fast paced environment with little supervision. Continuous improvement and safety are integral parts of all of our job requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $18.00-$31.00 per hour
