Welder/Assembly Tech Job Description

Intelligent Wellhead Systems (IWS) is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Welder/Assembly Tech. to join our Calgary team. IWS is seeking a highly motivated Welder/ Assembly Tech. to support the Manufacturing Department of the company. This position will work Monday to Fridays (8–10-hour days) with overtime and the occasional weekend in our head office in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will work in a team environment and help build a competitive organization by being responsible for MIG, TIG and Aluminum welding along with assembly of various components. This position is 30% Welding and 70% Assembly. This involves but is not limited to torch and plasma cutting, using hand tools and operating machinery.

SPECIFICALLY, THE WELDER / ASSEMBLY TECH. WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Weld gauge metal and light structural parts using MIG, TIG and Aluminum processes
  • Torch and plasma cutting
  • Preparation / fabrication of parts
  • Read and follow drawings accurately
  • Lay outs for cut outs
  • Drilling and tapping
  • Nut and Bolt assembly of various components.
  • Prototyping
  • Responsibly operate and handle tools and machinery
  • Perform quality checks on parts from current and previous fabrication operations
  • Wear proper PPE as required at all times
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by your manager to ensure IWS goals and objectives are met
  • Performs all duties so as to meet the responsibilities listed in IWS Safety and Human Resources Policy Manual
  • Performs duties according to IWS quality system procedures and work instructions

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a Welder
  • Previous MIG, TIG and Aluminum welding experience is required
  • Experience using oxy-acetylene torch and/or plasma cutting
  • CWB Certification is considered an asset
  • Previous experience and knowledge of operating hand and power tools
  • Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor conditions year-round
  • Forklift, overhead crane, and crane experience is considered an asset
  • Well organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent safety record / safety conscious with an interest in continued learning of safety precautions and procedures
  • Experience in an industrial capacity with a notable willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Active and energetic team player interested in furthering their experience within a manufacturing environment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
