We are currently seeking high quality Welder/Brazer/Painter with a proven track record of excellent efficiency and accuracy.

Goals and Key Result Areas:
- Ensure safety is the number one concern.
- Ensure daily checklists are completed thoroughly and accurately.
- Ensure Highest Quality of work with zero escapes.
- To weld, braze or fabricate parts in accordance with supplied drawings and standards.
- Ensure you are meeting routed times while working safely and efficiently.
- Help in the design of fixtures for new tools and fixtures to improve efficiencies on existing tools.
- Protect parts from damage while handling.
- Maintain clean, well-lit, and marked areas.
- A very high level of accuracy and attention to details is expected when Painting and Heat Treating, both with job routing sign offs and load out/trace sheets.
- Perform Painting operations based on the routing to provide effective and
adequate coverage for all parts required.
- Properly set up heat treat unit to the specifications required by customer(s) called out on the router.
Responsibilities and Key Tasks
- Ensure safety inspections are being completed on time and 100% accurate.
- Ensure quality expectations are being met.
- Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to ensure products can be completed accurately and on time.
- Select torch tips, alloys, flux, coil, tubing, or wire, according to metal types or thicknesses, data charts, specs or records.
- Prepare metal surfaces or workpieces, using hand-operated equipment, such as grinders, cutters, or drills.
- Mark weld points and positions of components on workpieces, using rules, squares, templates, or scribes.
- Lay out, fit, or connect parts to be bonded, calculating production measurements as necessary.
- Conduct trial runs before welding, soldering, or brazing and make necessary adjustments to equipment.
- Weld, braze to approved specifications as required.
- Inspect, measure, or test completed metal workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using measuring and testing devices.
- Ensure traceability and documentation required is fully complete and accurate.
- Safely remove completed workpieces or parts from machinery.
- Notify Supervisor(s) or Scheduling of any conflicts, issues or Non-conformances.
- Compute and record settings for new work, applying knowledge of metal properties, principles of welding, and shop mathematics.
- Set dials and timing controls to regulate electrical current, gas flow pressure, heating or cooling cycles, or shut-off.
- Devise or build fixtures or jigs used to hold parts in place during welding, brazing, soldering.
- Plan and exercise conscious control of time spent on tasks required.
- Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of machine tools.
M2M Clock off Quantity Complete after every job or Shift.
- Keep track of the total number of parts required and the amount produced at any given time.
- Properly clean and prepare all product(s) to ensure proper paint application.
- Paint to required specification while masking off any areas required based on the drawing(s) and/or work orders provided.
- Ensure all walkways are clear of tripping hazards prior to suiting up; Visibility becomes very limited.
- Ensure all spray equipment is clean before AND after use.
- Ensure highest quality standards are met and there are no defects in the paint.
- Heat Treat to required specification based on drawing(s) and/or work orders provided.
- Ensure all electrodes are attached securely to part(s) and cables are properly laid out to avoid tripping hazards; Do not attach to PWHT unit power source yet.
- Secure insulation/blankets properly around each part. Failure to do this will result with inconsistent heating and cooling.
- Make sure heat treat area is labelled appropriately to ensure the safety of all staff
- Ensure graphing paper is present for recording.
- Properly set up heat treat unit to the required specifications in the router
- Maintain a high quality of documentation throughout the heat treat process
- Ensure product that is still hot is protected and labelled appropriately for the safety of all staff until cooling has commenced.
- Ensure pictures are taken of PWHT and that each picture has the correct serial number in it.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Comply with all HSE, QMS and Corporate policies at Norquest.
- Performs other duties as assigned by a Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- An Interprovincial Red Seal or have a Journeyman Welding ticket from a recognized provincial training authority is an asset.
- Experience in weld inspection is an asset.
- Ability to read and manufacture to blueprints and specifications.
- A valid “B” pressure ticket would be an asset.
- Experience with TIG, STT, Flux Core, or MIG an asset.
- Previous brazing experience in a Manufacturing setting would be an asset.
- Must possess valid government issued photo identification.
- Prior Painting and Heat Treating is an asset.
- Ability to multitask.
- Able to work in a high-paced environment.
- Operation of overhead cranes, and pallet jacks.
- The ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
- Experience with computers would be an asset.
