Full Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs difficult welding operations on a wide range of metals and alloys, including aluminum and stainless steel, for complex, precision assemblies involving high strength welds or welds to pressurized units.

Plans and lays out welding sequence, referring to drawings, blueprints or specifications.

May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates. May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, or guides using measuring instruments and hand tools.

Operates welding equipment, regulating current and voltage or gas and wire flow rate for proper penetration and fusion of metals.

Ensures maximum weld strength, avoiding distortion and excessive weld at joints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of two years experience in welding various materials, including aluminum and stainless steel

Metallurgical knowledge

Technical school training in welding

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Basic English language skills

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Geometry

Measurements and ability to calculate dimensions

REASONING ABILITY

No special reasoning ability

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certificate in Welding
