Position requires to weld by gas or electric arc methods a variety of types of metals including manual and semi-automatic heliarc, submerged arc, carbon, atmospheric bubble, and CO2 processes. Employee must work from verbal instructions, blueprints, sketches, welding procedures, with or without job tag instructions.

Job Responsibilities

Read and understand welding procedure ESSENTIAL VARIABLES; Filler material, Preheat, Interpass, Volts, Amps, Travel speed and Joint preparation.

Have a working knowledge of metals and their properties.

Be able to pass 3 G welding test per ASME sect IX in GTAW processes and 1G for SAW.

Must understand the principles of Thermal Stress Relief and the use of Ceramic Heating Pads for same.

Set-up, Program and run PWHT operation unattended.

Work from Blue print drawing and sketches; determine where and how much weld to apply, perform Lay out work and demonstrate a workable proficiency with Oxy/Fuel cutting equipment.

Have a solid working knowledge of rigging principles and equipment; over head cranes, nylon slings, wire rope, shackles, spreader bars and coordinated lifting and up ending heavy objects.

Through knowledge of shop measuring devices; scales, squares, levels, protractors, micrometers, vernier and digital calipers.

Positive attitude toward cleanliness, neatness, quality and quantity of work as well as a healthy respect for the comfort and safety of others.

Required Skills / Knowledge

Tig welding, Mig welding, Stick welding, Sub-arc welding, heat treat setups and cycles runs.

Experience

3-5 years weld experience using various weld techniques, blending/grinding of rotating and stationary parts for industrial gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent Vocational Welding Certificate

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend down and pick up 50 lbs.
