Overview

Purpose of the Position – Performs welds using arc and T.IG. welding processes.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position

Representative duties and responsibilities:
Works from blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions.

Assembles and welds iron, steel, aluminum, stainless steel and other alloys.

Performs welds using arc and T.I.G. welding processes uses oxygen/acetylene torch and cutting/notching equipment such as bank saw, ironworker, shear, and reciprocating saw to cut and fit assemblies.

Determines fabrication, repair, or modification requirements and methods to be followed, laying out and planning assigned work.

Constructs stand and jigs for weldments

Troubleshoots and adjusts welding/burning equipment.

Assembles and connects welding apparatus including tanks, regulators, hoses, torches, and tips, cables, with feeders, and electrode holders.

Performs other work of related skill.

May be asked to assist with or complete work in other craft areas.

All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent. Must be certified in accordance with AWS specifications.
