Overview

The Position

This posting is for a full-time Welder/Fitter. The hours of this position are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm (DAYS) and 4:00pm-2:30am Monday-Thursday (NIGHTS). We have availability on both shifts.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Read blueprint, diagrams, sketches and read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits
  • Assist in training of junior employees and apprentices and inspecting their work
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded if needed
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety by monitoring temperature and wearing the required safety equipment at all time
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects

Requirements

· Previous experience required

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings (an asset)

· Understanding manufacturing processes

· Excellent organizational skills is a must

· Good use of measuring tools and devices

· High energy, motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, team player

· Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
