Overview

Overview: Completes routine welding assignments within clearly defined processes.

Skills and Abilities:Ability to:

  • Pass 1G and 2G test required
  • Use metal core mig, tig, fluxcore, or stick welding process
  • Perform quality visual and U.T. welds
  • Weld brackets and braces and use grinders
  • Learn to read and understand blueprints
  • Learn to operate basic cutting equipment
  • Learn about different types and sizes of pipe, structural, and vessel materials
  • Comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of metal core mig, tig, fluxcore, or stick welding process

Minimum Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding training or equivalent on-the-job-training preferred
  • Must provide own welding hood, chipping hammer, and wire cutting pliers

Minimum Experience:

  • Typically 1-12 months related experience and/or training

Leadership:

  • No leadership responsibilities

  • Frequently required to walk with good balance
  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 90 pounds
  • Occasionally required to stoop, twist, kneel, and squat
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
