Position
We are seeking a Welder/Fabricator (Underground) for a full-time/regular position. This is a fly-in, fly-out position at the Minto mine site with travel to Whitehorse, YT and charter flight to site every Thursday travel day. Rotation is 3 week on/3 week off. Travel to/from Whitehorse is paid for by the Company.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have:
Awareness of and compliance to the Company’s Performance Management Standards
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to, be aware of and sponsor the Company’s safety and environmental rules and procedures
Ensure accountability of Company’s Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability policies and procedures
Perform welding/fabrication work and related functions, including machinery maintenance + repairs as necessary.
Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures
Previous experience in an underground or surface mining environment will be an advantage.
Red Seal trade certification
Valid class 5 driver’s license
Responsibilities
Monitor for safety, effectiveness and efficiencies.
Design, fabricate, join, and repair equipment, fixtures, and structures.
Ensure Federal/Yukon Trade Codes and Regulations remain in compliance.
Assist with the set-up, implementation, testing and modifications.
Perform related monitoring and recording processes.
Ensure efficient deployment of inventory and materials.
Work co-operatively as a team member of the Maintenance Department.
Work with, assist and provide support to Apprentices.
Perform any report writing functions that may be required.
Participating in ongoing training and development.
Proficient with time management, self-motivated, and can work and learn independently as well as with a team.
Promote teamwork, cross-cultural relations and understanding.
Report problems, process irregularities, safety concerns and any unusual activities to your supervisor forthwith.
Other Duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the company.
