Overview
Abrasitec Inc., an Edmonton west end welding shop, specializes in fabrication and repair of heavy mining/industrial components, has an opportunity for a 1st or 2nd year welder apprentice to join our team.
Under the supervision of the journeyman welder, the role of the welder apprentice is to actively participate in the manufacture and repair of various mining/ industrial components.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in disassembling and assembling various mining/industrial components and preparing for inspection.
- Prepare parts for rebuild and repair work following provided procedures.
- Using various equipment, cut, gauge, grind and clean parts and prepare for welding.
- Work safely and observe all safety rules to provide a safe place for all employees
- Complete all required paperwork.
Qualifications:
- Drive forklift
- Weld -S.MAW – G.MAW – M.CAW
- Grind with accuracy
- Willing to learn
- Have basic welding tools
- Pass onsite welding test
- Previous mining equipment repair is an asset
- Overhead crane operation is an asset
- Fluent in English – read, write and speak
