Overview

Boilersmith Ltd. is looking for a well organized, team-orientated candidate, ideally residing within 50 km of Seaforth, Ontario. The successful candidate will have excellent mechanical aptitude with relevant industry experience in 2G fillet welding and full penetration groove welding. Quality of work must conform to industry regulated TSSA / ASME quality standards for boilers and pressure vessels and Boilersmith Ltd.’s Quality Control program.

Job Summary

The Welder/Fitter/Boilermaker will be required to fit up, assemble, and weld carbon steel, firetube boilers and boiler house auxiliaries throughout several stages of the manufacturing process. Additional responsibilities include tube installation and beading. Work involves use of a variety of hand and power tools as well as the use of overhead cranes.

Main tasks and responsibilities

With training – The ability to

  • read parts and assembly drawings including specifications and welding (AWS) symbols.
  • fabricate, layout and fit pressure vessels (i.e., shells, heads, internal and external attachments).
  • knowledge and experience with MIG for mild steel.
  • cut and bevel holes and metal parts by using oxyfuel torches.
  • fasten components together using tack welding.
  • tubing and beading the welded pressure vessels
  • install all types of piping and steam/water trim on firetube boilers, feedwater and blow down tanks per ASME, QC and CSA B51 codes and Boilersmith Ltd.’s Quality Control procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) – 2G, 6G
  • Relevant experience preferred in
  • Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) – 1G, 2G
  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) – 6G
  • Submerged arc welding (SAW) – 1G

Desired Skills / Previous Experience

  • Boiler and Pressure Vessel Welder/Welding Operator Certification.
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet or exceeds standards and/or specifications.
  • Works well under pressure and on time.
  • Production of high quality workmanship with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with others with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly.

Physical Requirements

Requires climbing, bending, crouching, crawling, and lifting 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing.

Working Conditions

Normal Workshop Conditions. Some exposure to hazardous conditions will require the incumbent to wear PPEs.
