Welder/Fitter Instructor

Job description – Brownsville, TX area

New Welding and Fitter school is seeking a Welding and Fitter instructor with a minimum of 5 years industrial experience in the Welding and Fabrication Industry.

An AWS Welding Instructor Certification is preferred. Must be knowledgeable and proficient in all welding disciplines including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW on plate and pipe and Plasma and Oxy-Acetylene cutting procedures.

Must be highly proficient at blueprint reading and pipefitting theory and its application. Thoroughly understand and abide by all industry safety standards and procedures associated with the above processes.

Must have the ability of instructing students both in theory and hands on applications of both welding and fitting.

Essential Functions:

• Organize and present prepared instructional materials in classroom and lab.
• Evaluate student progress and modify delivery to ensure student success.
• Develop, implement, and review effective teaching and learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology technology and other tools.
• Remain current in discipline through professional development.
• Update course content and Syllabus when appropriate to reflect current levels of industrial knowledge in Welding and Fitting.
• Advise and counsel Welding and Fitting students as assigned.
• Perform student registration duties for Welding/Fitter program.
• Assist department in recruiting efforts for new Welding students.
• Must work well with others and function in a team setting.

Minimum Certifications:

• An American Welding Society, or equivalent, Society Instructor Certificate
• Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in welding and fabrication.
• May require test to confirm welding process knowledge.
• May require weld test to confirm proficiency of welding processes.
• May require test to confirm pipe fitting knowledge.
