Job Title: Welder

Job Objectives:

Located in the Prep department, the Welder – General works across the Company where needed, providing welding for a variety of projects including material rework, building maintenance and prototype construction. The Welder will provide a product finished to the fine standards required of a Tornado product. Their work is performed to a high level of quality and precision. They must be able to perform work in a safe and efficient manner while keeping high and consistent quality standards.

Key Responsibility Areas:
Project Planning:
- Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications and instructions.
- Review assignments and plan the requirements to complete.
- Determines materials and supplies needed to complete the project.
- Prepares and sets up necessary tools and equipment for welding job.
Welding:
- Operates welding and other related equipment to builds required parts.
- Able to weld in a variety of modes including GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and SMAW in all positions.
- Retrieves materials required and ensures they meet specifications.
Maintenance:
- Cleans and services equipment.
- Replaces damaged or worn components.
Testing:
- Tests component parts (air, hydro).
- Test welds and performs Dye Pen testing.
Projects / Other Assignments:
- When not occupied with welding assignments, the Welder – General will be expected to help with work in Inspection. They will work under the direction of Prep and Assembly leads to assemble hydrovac trucks or components, or to prepare chassis and mount equipment as required.
- Welders may be asked to assist the Service Department with welding repairs to customer equipment.
- Welders may also assist the Maintenance department with repairs or modification to buildings, facilities or equipment.
- Works on other projects or initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Experience
- Manufacturing of tanks and parts experience preferred.
Certification
- Journeyman Welding Certificate

Working Conditions:
- Tornado Global Hydrovacs operates in an industrial shop. It is a very dusty environment and can be warm in the summer and cold in the winter due to the bay doors opening for part movement. The work requires an ability to lift heavy objects, and to work in a variety of positions (standing, kneeling, crouching and underneath vehicles) for long periods of time.
- On the production floor there are overhead cranes, forklifts, welding and many other hazards. This job always requires certain PPE to be worn. The employee will provide appropriate safety footwear and a welding helmet. Tornado will supply safety glasses and hearing protection, and all other required PPE.
