Overview

AECOM is hiring Welder Helpers to join the Imperial Oil Kearl LDP project team on site near Fort McKay, Alberta. This is a full-time permanent position.

Welder Helpers assist welders perform a wide range of tasks at construction sites.

Welder Helpers will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

+ Join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components

+ Make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and assist to weld parts, tools, machines and equipment

+ Assist welders in use of different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength

+ Develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders

+ Clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch to weld parts together

+ Assist welders in setting up equipment and preparing tools

+ Any other task required by welders

This is a fly-in/fly-out position and as such will be subject to the Government of Canada’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements: _

As per Federal guidelines, as of December 1st, 2021, anyone who is to board a charter flight must be able to provide proof of full vaccination (+14 days). Please ensure you bring proof with you to the flight center and allow for at least 2 hours prior to flight departure._

Additionally, anyone accessing the IOL Kearl Site will also require_ full vaccination (full course plus 14 days) required on or before February 15, 2022._

_Conditions of Employment for this position are: _

1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company’s Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM – O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

+ Valid Alberta Welding Apprenticeship

+ Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

+ First Aid – Standard Level Certification – (Level C), in-class 2 day course

+ Confined Space Entry

+ Fall Protection

+ Valid Government Issued ID

+ Fire Watch

Preferred Qualifications

+ Previous oilfield maintenance or facility construction experience
