Why Work for Us

This position is based in the Cold Lake, AB area on our Imperial Oil Resources site. This is a turnaround-based position starting in May and running approximately 4 weeks with a turnaround shift schedule of 6 on and 1 off 12 hour days. Day and night shift positions.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is above industry average and increases with experience

LOA provided for non-local candidates

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Foreman, the Welder’s Helper, Turnaround assumes responsibility for all welder helper duties required on industrial scope construction projects:

Assists with welding functions.

Load and unload materials and move materials to work area.

Operate and care for equipment and machines.

Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe.

Follow instructions from crew Lead Hand and Foreman.

Assist craft workers.

Other duties as assigned by the Foreman.

Working Conditions

Overtime as required

Day shift and night shift positions available

Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions

Working in and around noise and dust

Working at heights (on platforms or decks)

Working in confined spaces

Camp is not provided

Daily bussing available from select locations

Must be clean shaven

Personal safety equipment supplied except steel-toed safety boots. Boots must be CSA approved green triangle, be of the lace up type and be a minimum of 6” ankle support. Iron worker boots or flat sole boots are only allowed for iron workers.

Qualifications

High school diploma

2 years’ experience as a general labourer or welder’s helper in the construction industry an asset

Preference will be given to individuals who are indentured in the welding or pipefitting trades

Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions

Superior written and verbal communication skills

Valid driver’s license

Pre-site Drug and Alcohol testing

Physical Requirements

Stand or walk for long periods of time

Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time

Ability to lift up to 25kg

Climbing stairs/ladders regularly

Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools

Covid-19

Bird will accommodate requests from clients to uphold health and safety requirements on their project site. As such, candidates may be required to have proof of full vaccination prior to onboarding as an employee.
