We are currently seeking a Welder/Installer who will be working both in-house (Mig Welding) and on customer sites (ARC/Stick Welding) to manufacture garbage bins and lead installations on customer sites. The Welder/Installer will be trained to operate a lift truck, and should be comfortable driving a pick-truck which hauls a 16’ft (open) trailer in tow. Training will be provided with the expectation that you are eager to learn.

This is a long-term permanent position.

Work Hours:
8am – 4:30PM. There will be times that require overtime for which you will be compensated. This is typically as a result of travel time.

Job Description

The Welder/Installer’s time will be split between the Wilkinson Chutes custom welding shop, and at customer sites for installation. When you are not performing installs, you will be part of the welding crew, manufacturing custom bins – all MIG welding.

During installs, the Welder/Installer will lead the installing, dismantling and moving of machinery and equipment. You will drive a Pickup truck with a 16ft trailer to job sites, operate a forklift to move machinery and equipment to and from specified destinations. On customer site, you will weld support stands for waste sorters (Stick/Arc welding). Responsible for securing the equipment to the trailer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the crew:
Using (MIG) welding and torch cutting to produce and repair waste and recycling equipment

Using ARC/Stick welding, weld support stands for waste sorters on customer sites. – will train

Operates various power tools, plasma cutting and cutting torches as required.

Moves materials, installs and dismantles machinery and equipment.

Operates and controls lift truck – will train

Positions forks, lifting platform or other lifting/rigging devices over or around machinery and/or equipment to be moved or unloaded. will train

Lifts and positions equipment onto a vehicle, or from vehicle to a spot on the floor.

QUALIFICATIONS

2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MIG welding experience

ARC/Stick welding experience – an asset

Torch cutting experience

Able to lift up to 60 pounds

Must be mechanically inclined.

Read and use measuring tape

Maneuvering and towing trailer experience is an asset.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid G license is required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate equipment and machinery; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk with and listen to other team members, supervisor, Project Manager and customers. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. This includes exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PPE is required to be worn as per our H & S policies. Employee will mostly be working indoors.
