Overview

Matrix is urgently hiring marine ironworkers & welders for a long-term project in Halifax, NS. These roles will provide fly-in/fly-out and $135 travel day allowance & $135/Day LOA or optional accommodations (those living outside 80km). If you are driving you will be provided $600 travel per rotation or flight (if outside 80km). If you are coming from within 80km, you will be provided with a $50/day LOA. Overtime may be offered each week (but not guaranteed).

Ironworker Scope:
Measure, cut, grind, fit, align and tack weld parts.

The layout of reference points and patterns.

Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures.

Layout construct patterns and templates.

Read, interpret, plan and execute drawings, blueprints, and procedures.

Welder Scope:
Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.

Work in a construction, maintenance/repair, new fabrication environment.

Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) in all positions.

Perform Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) in all positions.

Select the proper weld filler material.

Qualifications:For Welders:
Journeyman or Red Seal Ticket.

Confined Space, Fall Protection, WHMIS.

CWB and Flux Core 4 positions.

Years of Experience Required: 5-8+ years.

A pre-employment Government Security Clearance/background check will need to be completed.

Full PPE+Fit Tested Respirator Mask.

For Ironworkers:
Journeyman Ticket (red seal or provincial qualification).

Confined Space, Fall Protection, WHMIS.

Requirements:For Welders:
Candidates will be required to work at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.

Work in confined spaces and inclement weather.

Support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate.

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.

You will frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds.

Occasionally, you may be required to lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds.

Employers Evaluation/Skills Assessment Required* (Successful Candidates Only).

For Ironworkers:
Years of Experience Required: 5-8+ or more years of fabrication, assembly, and fitting experience utilizing various tools and equipment.

Metal fabrication trade certification.

Experience working in Marine/Industrial industry is considered an asset.
