Overview
The Welder is involved in the joining of tank walls, pipe, steel, beams, vessels, and other metal components. This work exists primarily outdoors in the erection of a tank facility and is physically demanding, including comfort with working at heights.
Location: Kitimat, BC – LNG
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: March, 2022
Shift: 14/7 shift rotation; 10 hours per day; Overtime paid after 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week.
Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver (local candidates will be given priority consideration)
Camp: Camp provided for non-locals
Welder JM Rate: $38.94*
Welder Apprentice Year 3 Rate: $35.05
- Additional premiums may be applicable for those with valid tanks experience (as per management discretion).
**Successful completion of a pre-access drug & alcohol test and proof of full vaccination are required for site access
Duties:
Comply with Company and Client Safety rules, as well as OH&S standards
Read and interpret blue prints to determine requirements of the job
Knowledge of welding vertical seams on a tank
Comfortable working of heights up to 85 ft
Knowledge of welding with Sub-Arc procedure considered an asset
Understands how to read drawings, fit nozzles and piping, and structural
Clean and check weld for defects
Attend required safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings
May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be an Alberta registered apprentice or ticketed journeyman (or hold an apprenticeship or journeyman certificate recognized by AIT)
Alberta B-Pressure Certificate and current PQR’s may be required for Journeymen
Current CWB All-position certification may be required
CSTS-09 and/or CSO
Able to work well in a team environment
Must be physically able to lift 50lbs and climb in/under units in the field
