Position Summary:

Mistras Canada Inc. is seeking IRATA Journeyman Welders to support our project in Fort McMurray area, Alberta.

Temporary Incentives for Rope Access Trades

  • Incentives below are temporarily in effect from April 25, 2022- July 1, 2022 for Rope Access Trades

(including foremen) assigned to Kearl K1 SD 2201 Shutdown shifts.

  • The incentives are not applicable to overhead positions.
  • Rate Adders will be accumulated on a daily basis and paid in the corresponding pay period based on actual

days worked on site. Retention Allowance will be paid at the end of the project based on actual days worked on site. Workers who quit, job abandon, or are terminated with cause will not receive accumulated retention

still owed; any rate adders will not be clawed back. In the event the worker is laid off, the retention allowance will be prorated. E.g. if worker hired for 30 day shutdown and laid off on day 15, worker is entitled to 15 day retention allowance.

  • To receive rate adder or retention allowance, “days worked” will be defined as minimum 4 hours of work on site.

* Responsible for welding maintenance of piping systems using IRATA certified rope access abilities
_* Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, and by alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns

  • Perform all duties as assigned and adheres to MISTRAS’ Core Values
  • Technicians will be required to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells
  • Other related duties as required
  • Candidates will need to submit vaccination status and proof as a client site access requirementPhysical Job Demand:

Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • Journeyman Welder in Alberta, or a Red Seal Certificate
  • CWB and / or SMAW is required
  • Maintain or obtain certificate in the welding position/type demanded
  • Certified IRATA Rope Access Level is required
  • Confined Space is mandatory
  • Experience with welding in plants an asset
  • Various Client Safety Orientations are be mandatory and accessible online to complete
  • Ability to work with computers / computerized equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Travel requirement to work on site
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
  • Candidates will need to submit a valid driver’s license, 3 year driving abstract and pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test before going to site
  • Candidates will need to submit vaccination status and proof as a client site access requirement
