Career Opportunity – Welder

Klondike Contracting is part of the KC Group. We are seeking a detailed and orientated Welder with proven experience in structural steel welding. You will be responsible for following several standards and must be willing and capable to weld, edit and perform all duties related to working in a construction environment.

Job Responsibilities

Promote and maintain good working relationships and collaboration with peers, clients, consultants, and suppliers

Ensure safety is a priority that is managed in every project

Welding

Welding components in flat, vertical or overhead positions

Secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using various tools

Welding of components and assemblies using electric or arc welding equipment

Cut work pieces using powered and non-powered equipment/tools

Remove rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand files or scrapers

Heat, form and dress metal parts using hand held tools and oxy fuels torches

Work collaboratively alongside others

Accurately read and use a tape measure to help produce small steel parts required per drawing specifications using various powered tools/machines.

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Required Experience & Skills

5+ years’ experience of welding heavy steel

CWB certified if MIG or flux core welding procedures

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading and interpreting welding symbols

Valid BC Drivers license.

Experience in the construction industry is a strong asset

Demonstrated success in effectively mentoring and managing a team

Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge

Strong communication skills both written and verbal

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office, accounting, and bookkeeping software

Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach

Solution-focused with a high degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability

Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and allocate time/resources accordingly
