Overview

Position Summary:

Since 1943 N.R. Murphy Ltd prides itself on being a people-oriented company focused on designing and manufacturing the highest quality of air pollution control equipment. N.R. Murphy is currently looking to hire a welder/fitter as a part of its fabrication division. In this position, the successful applicant will work alongside the fabrication team to assist in MIG welding and minor fabrication responsibilities, as well as filter bag installation. This role has additional duties (including manual labour) that will be required on an as needed basis.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the sheet metal fabricators with MIG welding of various dust collection equipment. Work will be prioritized through the discretion of the production supervisor.
  • Assist with preparing units for painting including, welding, installing hardware, caulking, and installing filter bags.
  • Assist in service calls on an as needed basis to diagnose, report, and repair existing units alongside other service workers.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other responsibilities may include, but not limited to: offloading/unloading trucks (if shipping needs assistance), loading sheet metal and angle onto racks, and other various manual labour activities.

Qualifications

  • MIG welding experience, knowledge of welding principles and methods is required (no ticket required).
  • Punctuality must be on time to shift and be consistent with attendance.
  • Be able to read and interpret engineered drawings.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Experience with grinders, torches, forklifts, cranes, hoists, shears, saws, irons workers & brake press is an asset.
  • Able to setup and adjustment of welding machines.
  • Knowledge or experience with Dust Collection is an asset.
  • Willing to use a 10-ton Forklift, and ladders. Must be comfortable with heights.
  • Able to stand regularly and lift or move up to 75 lbs.

Other

  • 40 hours per week with possible overtime
  • 7am – 4pm Monday – Thursday, 7am – 1pm Friday
  • Must bring your own: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, and welding helmet and attire.
  • Covid Restrictions: Sanitation protocols, masks, when necessary, daily health checks.
  • Must be fully vaccinated.
  • Will have to pass a welding test before hire.

Salary & Benefits

  • Hourly wage: $22.00 – $25.00
  • Company Paid Benefits (3 months after start date)
