Scope Of Position

Welder Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the facility in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, carry out the priorities identified by the Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Maintenance Technician while maintaining the capacity to accomplish secondary and tertiary routine maintenance and repair items with little to no supervision. You will be an active participant in effective collaboration between the team and management. Leadership skills are needed to aid in direction, training and comradery of the maintenance team.

Welding duties include design and fabrication of structures, piping, and supports to include both controlled environment and field welding. Repair and restoration of industrial equipment. Equipment includes industrial machinery supporting site specific equipment including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, support structures and other various piping system components.

Due to the hazardous nature of the chemicals being handled and stored, this position requires an extremely safety conscientious individual with a highly developed safety attitude and safety focus combined with the ability to demonstrate a high and sustainable focus on attention to detail.

Position: Welder Maintenance Technician

Shift: Monday to Friday (40 hours + over time)

Hourly Rate:
$5000 SIGN ON BONUS

32/hour

Key Responsibilities

Accomplish maintenance evolutions, in support of the Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Maintenance Technician, performing all work as a cohesive crew which troubleshoots together, learns together, and safely & efficiently operates the plant

Plumbing, pipe fitting, assembles, installs, maintains pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems, applying knowledge of system operation, and following blueprints: allowing for conformance to specifications, holes, and obstructions.

Maintains hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment used in plant processes.

Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, stainless steel, steel, Teflon, copper, and plastic. Connects pipes, using threaded, bolted or cemented joints using hand-tools.

Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from past experience.

Ability to pipe fit and weld stainless steel (TIG) and ferrous piping systems.

Leads and contributes to the team and the whole facility in a positive way

Provides input to organizing crew tasks, maintaining work standards, and resolving issues with team members

Liaison with operations to ensure maintenance support tasks/preparations are completed for work to be done

Provides guidance to crew in maintaining and monitoring equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation

Provide plant housekeeping leadership. Assist Maintenance Supervisor to set expectations and ensure all are contributing to a neat, orderly, and safe work environment

Organize, maintain, and inventory repair facilities, parts storage warehouse, tools and equipment

Carry our diverse skilled activities involving the repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities; designate and monitor the work of personnel in order to achieve the completion of diverse tasks

Ensure adherence to Chemtrade safety practices and principles

Exemplify and promote Chemtrade professional standards and expectations

Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.

Perform troubleshooting on and restoration of mechanical and electromechanical systems including pneumatic and hydraulic piping systems, associated valves, centrifugal pumps, gear boxes, and support equipment.

Read and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Follow operating manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and sketches.

Utilize precision measuring equipment and devises.

Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.

Replacing and/or repairing valves, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, mechanical seals, motors, precise fabrication/repairs of pipes, gates, staircases, and tanks.

Leads/coordinate/support contractor activity

Other duties as assigned.

Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Promote a safe work environment and directs all tasks with the focus of ensuring the safety of the crew

Clearly understands management system procedures including hazard analysis, incident management, drug and alcohol policy, management of change, hazmat, and emergency response and ensures the maintenance team follows all procedures and practices

Participates in training assessments, safety inspections, and housekeeping audits, Safe Work Permits, LOTO/ECP, Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s), PHA’s

Responsible for timely resolution of safety concerns on site within scope of expertise

Mentor and participate in life critical skills assessments and training

Ensures safety training tasks/certifications are completed on time

What You Need To Be Successful

Proficient in Stick, MIG, and TIG welding (Certification by American Welding Society is a significant benefit)

Must be able to pipe fit/fabricate and weld (TIG) stainless steel pipe and associated support structures

General weld repair of equipment

Experienced with GMAW, GTAW and SMAW welding process and equipment

Knowledge of reliability based preventative and corrective maintenance concepts

Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.

Technical and logical competency regarding safety and production equipment.

Respectful of team members and provide role modeling of all company values

Experience in plant operations, repair, safety, quality, and environment procedures and tasks

Commitment to safety principles and operational efficiency

Punctual, reliable, and responsible

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
The physical demands are in place to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

Push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to 50 pounds.

Ability to spend long periods of time walking and standing.

Ability to work in confined spaces and elevated environments

Ability to climb stairs and ladders (including vertical)

Work Environment

Must be able to perform under the following conditions:

On Call for emergent repairs nights and weekends

Work in awkward of confining spaces

Work in elevated places

Work in outdoor environment
