What You Will Do (Responsibilities):
Perform welding duties on in-service gas pipelines for the purpose of attaching new customers and for the installation of new gas mains.
Fabricate various sizes of stations as per drawings.
Repair damages, install repair clamps, and perform other maintenance activities as required.
Install meter stations and support stands for stations.
Emergency work may be required.
May be assigned work from other affected classifications where trained and/or qualified to perform without the requirement to acquire additional licenses.
Who You Are (Qualifications):
Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education or proven equivalent, and show an active interest in ambitious study and in learning from experienced associates.
Must have two years of recent full time welding experience or equivalent and a demonstrated competence in welding as evaluated by the Company’s Senior Welding Technician.
Current valid Driver’s License and maintenance of a responsible driving record.
Must be physically capable of performing strenuous manual labour as assigned and be able to wear all appropriate safety equipment.
Must have well developed written and oral communication skills.
Must be willing and able to learn to operate Company equipment as required.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
Must be able to pass oral, written and practical examinations before and after entering this classification as well as passing Union Gas Welding qualification tests.
Must be able to meet the Company and Government License Requirements in down-hand manual shielded metal arc welding ¾” to 12” diameter pipe and up-hand manual shielded metal arc welding, low hydrogen process for 1 ½” to 12” diameter pipe.
Must be willing to travel and work overtime as required.
