Overview
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
Practice safe work habits and comply with all quality, safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, programs and regulations.
Reviews layouts, prints or drawings in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and/or rulers.
Join, fabricate and repair metal and other welding type material.
Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED): or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Perform and pass a ASME/AWS weld test.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None Required
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of machine operations
Read and interpret Engineering drawings
Strong Math Skills/proficient Reading
Experience in planning and scheduling
Effective communication skills

Normally work in a weld shop environment; however, occasionally may work in a machine shop or assembly/inspection area.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (outside weather conditions); high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
Occasionally exposed to toxic and caustic chemicals; risk of radiation or electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
