Overview

Welder-Material Handler. This important role will appeal to welders who have manufacturing experience and are ready to take their career to the next level. The Welder is responsible for efficiently completing work orders to meet required specifications and when time allows, assist with Material Handling duties. This includes fabricating metal as well as repairing / maintaining equipment and machinery while following all company safety procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Uses appropriate welding techniques and tools such as Drill press, Torch, Saws, Shears, Benders, Grinders, banding machines and hand tools to complete tasks

· Assembles and fits steel sections to form complete units or subunits

· Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical drawings, prints and customer specifications

· Works in a timely manner ensuring high standards of quality are achieved and maintained

· Identifies and moves products and materials to the designated locations in the warehouse

· Assisting in pulling orders for customers or as required

· Providing support as required to other trades personnel

· Assist with the repair and preventative maintenance on equipment, tools and machinery

· Lifting of up to 20 lbs. regularly or 40 lbs. occasionally through the day

· Follows safe ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ accepting coaching from team mates and taking direction from Supervisors

· Clean work areas

· Other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills:

· Welding License is considered an asset and preference will be given to candidates who have their welding ticket

· Extensive knowledge of various welding techniques with emphasis on MIG welding

· Experience with machinery, hand tools, and lifting devices

· Steel industry experience is considered an asset

· Counterbalance forklift experience is considered an asset

· Reading and interpreting blueprints

· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada – Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident status

· 2+ years welding and industrial experience

· Punctual, Dependable, and Reliable, did we mention regular attendance is important and expected

· Education: high school or equivalent
