SECURE Energy is currently looking for a Welder based out of Red Deer Metals Recycling facility. This role is responsible for ensuring that all work in the shop is completed in a safe and timely fashion and that a clean, organized work site is maintained. This position must also adhere to our safety program and work as a contributing member of the shop team. This position is shop-based but will require time outside in the yard and occasional trips to the field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Being responsible for minor maintenance and inspection of personal equipment.

Performing the safe operation of tools and related equipment for the purposes of welding and fabrication.

Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications

Recognize defective welds, know the cause, and repair procedure for the defective area

Fuse metals safety and effectively use prescribed welding applications

Perform tasks in accordance with industry quality and production standards

Helping with facility maintenance and clean-up as required

Cleaning and performing preparation of work-sites for safe operation of equipment.

Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately;

Performing other duties as required

Qualifications & Competencies

The successful candidate will have:
Journeyman Welder or Apprentice ticket from a recognized provincial training authority

Machine welding repair experience is required

A minimum of 2-3 years’ previous experience in a similar role

Complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, and moving containers and other heavy materials

Ability to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear manner

Physically fit, able to lift 50 pounds, and able to work on feet for long periods of time

Ability to work in confined spaces

Excellent teamwork and team-building skills
