WELDER MIG and Flux Core (Day Shift)

Job Summary: Weld metal parts as specified by layout, welding diagram or work order.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor; clamps parts together along layout marks

Welds parts or subassemblies according to welding diagram or blueprint

Welds part or subassembly along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld

Examines weld for bead size and other specifications

Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes and builds up metal parts

Applies flux to workpiece instead of filler rod

Welds along vertical, horizontal or overhead weld lines

Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal

Cleans or degreases parts

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree)

Two years of training at a community college or technical school

Minimum of 2 years on-the-job welding (welding heavy metal/steel)
