Who We Are – FROM CONVEYORS TO ROBOTS

Custom Metal Designs, Inc. was established in 1972 by Saul Grimes, who, after working in the packaging industry, saw the need for a conveyor system to automate the packaging process. From there, Custom Metal Designs continued to innovate its conveyor designs and add to the automation with supporting equipment such as baggers and debaggers. Today, the business has evolved to become a leading robotic integrator in the packaging industry.

Our mission is to become an industry leader in each of the markets we serve, by providing superior quality turnkey solutions through custom design, manufacturing, installation, and world-class support of our products and services.

We are looking for an experienced MIG & TIG Welder to support our first shift production team. You will make sure all projects are completed accurately and on time. You will be responsible to review blueprints and assemble pieces of metal. You will produce a variety of parts, all of which must meet the dimensional specifications of the engineered blueprints. Location: We are in Oakland, FL, 23 minutes from Orlando.

Position Responsibilities:

§ Weld Steel and Flux core.

§ Read and understand multi-view drawings, layouts, and welding symbols.

§ Consistently produce usable product that meets the dimensional specifications of the mechanical engineered drawings.

§ Daily checks of work orders in the SAP systems.

§ Calculate dimensions of metal parts to be welded.

§ Perform component setup as well as basic digital programming on welding equipment controls.

§ Use suitable tools to properly contour weld parts and components to match complex and close tolerance configuration requirements.

§ Lay out, position, align, and secure metal parts.

§ Filling holes or hammering out bulges and bends.

§ Cleaning welded metal off excess weld, slag, or spatter.

§ Inspecting workpieces for defects and checking for specifications.

§ Work in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities.

§ Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.

§ Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.

§ Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use.

§ Keep work area clean and organized.

§ Maintain equipment and machinery.

§ Follow all company rules, policies, and quality standards.

§ Completes work priorities as assigned by supervisors.

§ Perform other such duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications:

§ The ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

§ Understand basic hardware i.e. Bolt Grades (Grade 5, 8, Etc.).

§ Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.

§ Well organized, analytical, and detail oriented with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

§ Basic math skills.

§ Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced work environment.

§ Display and maintain enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.

§ Possess a high degree of safety awareness.

§ Must cooperate with other associates maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

§ High School Diploma or equivalent.

§ Certified Welder – MIG/TIG.

§ 5+ years of welding experience.
