POSITION SUMMARY

Use hand-welding or flame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies and regulations.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files or scrapers.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes, such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, and submerged arc welding.

Feather or remove tacks using electric or pneumatic, grinders prior to welding beading pass.

POSITION LEVELS

Welder I:

  • 1-2 years of pipe welding experience
  • General knowledge of tools, equipment, blueprints, models and technical plans
  • General knowledge of machines, designs, repair and maintenance
  • Maintain a rejection rate of 5% or below

Welder II:

  • 2-3 years of pipe welding experience
  • Extensive knowledge of design techniques, production of technical plans, blueprints, models and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of materials, methods, and principals involved in the production of precise technical designs, uses and maintenance
  • Must possess the ability to perform at least three (3) processes.
  • Maintain a rejection rate of 4% or below
  • Must be able to perform in most bays

Welder III:

  • 3-4 plus years of pipe welding experience
  • Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of design techniques, methods, production of precision technical plans, blueprints and drawings
  • Must possess the ability to perform and be efficient in three (3) processes
  • Expert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
