Job Description:

The Welder/Pipe Fitter’s primary function is to provide technical service, support and expertise for welding and metalworking equipment. The position will require metal fabrication both in our shop and in the field. Must be able to follow plans, specs and verbal direction for completion of assigned tasks and projects. You must be able to competently weld in all positions (Flat, Vertical and Overhead).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up welding equipment (amperage, voltage, etc.) maximizing efficiency and effectiveness per application
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T
  • Prepare all materials prior to welding
  • Creative input on fixture design concepts for ideal part fit-up, create and evaluate prototype fixtures
  • Prepare welded assemblies for cosmetic finishing using grinding and sanding
  • Experienced with weld procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings using conventional tolerances as well as geometric tolerances
  • Complete own set-ups, trouble-shoot and solve problems with welding processes and results
  • Able to define, evaluate and discuss quality workmanship related to welding
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and assembly instructions
  • Must be proficient in TIG welding in materials such as 300 & 400 series stainless steels.
  • Must have working knowledge of purge welding
  • Proficiency with tolls for cutting, facing, grinding, polishing stainless steel
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory for repairs and new builds
  • Record the consumption of material and supplies
  • Record and track daily operations
  • Complete fabrications of both plate and tube stock
  • Minimum of 3 years’ metal working experience utilizing hand tools, press brakes, drill presses and shears
  • Must verify conformance of work to specifications
  • Must exhibit quality workmanship

Experience that is a Plus:

  • 3-5 years’ welding experience
  • Purge welding experience for sanitary environments
  • AWS D1.1 qualified
  • Experience with orbital welders
  • Framing experience

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years welding experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communications skills, a positive attitude, self-motivated, and demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
