Welder / Pipefitter

The welder will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems. This is a safety sensitive position. Welder will weld using various techniques. This position primarily focuses on pipefitting and welding, some structural welding may be needed occasionally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include water, gas, or process piping
  • Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
  • Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
  • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
  • Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps
  • Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
  • Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Pipe welding experience

Required Skill, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must have a current Driver’s License.
  • Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.
  • Must be able to pass drug and background check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of English (ability to read, speak and write) while performing work-related tasks.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
  • Must be proficient in SMAW, GTAW, MIG, TIG and pass qualification tests for those operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
