POSITION DESCRIPTION

Fabricator/PDI Technician

SUMMARY
The Truck Fabricator/Pre-Delivery Inspection Technician is responsible to fabricate and assemble, by using hand and power tools to make and or alter truck components based on a customer’s request.
They will also support the Service Department by completing Pre-Delivery Inspections on new vehicles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and understand detailed schematics
  • Use hand and power tools to trim, cut and fit components into the final product
  • Weld and Solder
  • Align and connect components with precision
  • Perform Pre – Delivery Inspections by:
  • Inspecting the interior and exterior of the vehicles for loose or misaligned items, such as trim, doors and hardware, reporting all defective components to management
  • Maintain clear and accurate records
  • Comply with requirements as outlined in the OHSA WHMIS, Company Handbook and all other company issued memos and policies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required to successfully perform the job.

Education and/or Experience

  • GED or ACE. Computer literate.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in welding and fabrication
  • Mechanical Knowledge

Language Skills

  • High standard of fluency in English for both oral and written correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to apply complex mathematical skills.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • None. Welding or mechanical certification is an asset

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee sits, stand, kneel, stoop, bend. Occasionally lift up to 50lbs

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is minor.

Schedule

  • This is a fulltime position.
