Under the day to day direction of Foreman, Welding, and responsible for shop and field welding and all other related work commensurate of a “B” level pressure welder. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of welding equipment and tools related to construction operations. Must possess a strong commitment to personal, public, coworker, and job safety.

What You Get to Do

Perform welding duties as required in accordance with company standards, and applicable external codes and standards. To weld piping, structural, assemblies and products, including vents, regulator and valve control assemblies, cushion tanks, service tees, service bends, vehicle heavy equipment repairs, and store supplies.

Interpret drawings and layout, fabricate, tie-in and hydrostatically test a variety of new assemblies, such as meter runs, valve assemblies, regulating stations and high-pressure vessels.

Fabricate, maintain and repair a variety of assemblies, such as truck beds, trailers, specialized equipment and structures.

Perform leak repairs in accordance with the company’s standard practice.

Maintain company vehicles, tools and welding equipment in a proper operating condition.

Operate a company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.

Perform field welding inspections when assigned.

Perform other related duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications

Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Must possess a Journeyman Welder Certificate from a recognized Apprenticeship Program and a “B” Pressure Welding Certificate.

Must possess or ability to obtain a CWB SMAW all position welder qualification.

Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and must be in possession of, or able to obtain, an In-House Operator’s Certificate.

Must attend and complete all training related courses in defensive driving and first aid and be prepared to render first aid when required.

Must possess, or be able to obtain, all appropriate company required certificates

Possess, or able to obtain, a thorough knowledge and understanding of appropriate company, environment, health and safety policies and procedures and related regulations.

Must maintain good internal and external customer relations and demonstrate the ability to lead, plan and direct the activities of assigned resources.

Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, learning ability, organizational skills, technical aptitude, initiative, mature judgment, and responsible work habits.

Ability to interpret system plans, mechanical drawing and working drawings.

Must be familiar with various regulatory codes governing the natural gas industry, as well as remain up to date on changes in industry standards, procedures and technology.

Must be able to qualify under the in-house welding procedures.

Must work and travel throughout franchise areas in all terrain and weather conditions. Must be able to work and stay away from home base as required.

Must meet standby requirements and be willing to take standby as required.

Must be willing to respond to and assist in emergencies that arise on a 24-hour basis as required.

This position is a Safety-Sensitive position and has additional pre-employment requirements as identified in the Alcohol & Drug Policy 6.2.3 Applicant Testing.
