Overview
Welders ensure that the parts have been correctly manufactured and weld the component according to the blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings. The welding method used in this position is Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) hardfacing for applying high-quality wear and corrosion resistant layers on surfaces of metallic materials.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Material Handling- moving material including the use of an overhead crane and forklift.
Material Preparation- Grinding, drilling, cutting, tacking, clamping, assembling and preparing components.
Operate Welding machines and weld with various types and positions.
Radiograph operations.
Cleaning of area and machines.
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Oxy- Acetylene Torch work, Carbide Brazing/Welding, Carbide Powder Welding, Drill Bit Hardfacing/Coating, Manual Welding/Brazing Skills is preferred
Ability and to travel to the United States for training (if needed) – Will be covered by the company
Qualification Requirements (Minimum Education and Experience) :
Knowledge and experience with industrial manufacturing and welding work
Experience with PTA hardfacing welding techniques and processes
Experience with blueprints
Good Communication skills (verbal and written)
Alberta Industry Training- Apprenticeship/Journeyperson program
Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification an asset
