Welder – St. Rose – 6221

Job Summary

The Welder is responsible for conducting maintenance, repair, and trouble-shooting activities. This position resides at the St. Rose Terminal, but is also responsible for duties at the Avondale Terminal.

Responsibilities

• Welding of both pipeline and structural steel
• Other duties as assigned by Welding Foreman

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years vocational training in Welding
• Three years of experience in terminal welding and maintenance work
• Valid Driver’s License
• TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
• Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
• Ability to manage numerous projects in a frequently changing work environment

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to weld pipe and structural steel.

Hours of Work

• Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
• This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
• Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

• The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the employee have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed.
• Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. Must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
• Must be able to work in a confined space, work over water, climb stairs and not be afraid of heights. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
