To weld out completely according to specifications all types of structural assemblies including rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy raters, parts, clips, mansard frames and special assemblies to produce quality building parts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment.
  • To weld out completely according to specifications to include all types of structural assembles.
  • Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with observed condition of bead.
  • Able to do some minor maintenance on welding machine/gun and gas setup.
  • The ability to decide when welder adjustment, or gun manipulation needs to be altered.
  • The ability to decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through as caused by auto weld.
  • Ability to train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures.
  • Responsible for carrying spools of wire to machine (65 lbs).
  • Ability to operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment.
  • Ability to operate hand power tools on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for holding bead to specified shape, size and penetrations while maintain quality of product.
  • Responsible for keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct.
  • Practice good housekeeping skills around work area.
  • Special projects as required.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Some knowledge of a manufacturing environment.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence, In addition, the ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is required.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division. Some positions may require advance mathematics.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply basic reasoning to understand and perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Use of power / hand tools
  • Overhead crane operation
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with a diversified work force
  • Ability to read diverse measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micometer).

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; lift; climb and/or balance essential tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • The employee may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate, and requires the use of hearing protection.
  • The employee will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas, (hard hat, gloves, welding jacket or weld bibs, protective arm sleeves, safety glasses, welding hood and earplugs.)

Safety Responsibilities:
Before initiating work at Cornerstone Building Brands, the employee is required to read and understand the position’s Job Safety Analysis.
