SHOP WELDERS (TIG, MIG, Stick and pipe a plus) – prior to hire, a candidate must pass weld test(s) and pass a drug test. NOTE: WE ONLY TEST WHEN WE NEED TO FILL POSITIONS. We always accept applications.

PAL-CON, Ltd. repairs, services, refurbishes, manufactures, removes, and installs gas turbine regenerators for the natural gas and electric utility industries. Regenerators are built and installed for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. A WELDER will be required to perform a variety of skilled duties as assigned by the foreman or superintendent varying from moderately difficult to complex. He/she must be experienced with building, repairing, and modifying steel structures and pipelines. PAL-CON, Ltd. utilizes the expertise of TIG, MIG, and stick welders.

A WELDER must be able to combine or separate metal parts of varying sizes, shapes, and thicknesses according to drawings, verbal or written work orders, or as directed by an immediate supervisor. A WELDER must be able to determine the proper technique to utilize given the assigned task. A WELDER must assure a proper weld; his/her work must be free from defects and must be performed in such a manner to prevent distortion or burning of components. A WELDER must be able to skillfully weld, braze, solder, and cut metal. A WELDER will be required to demonstrate his/her welding ability; he/she must successfully pass PAL-CON, Ltd.’s exclusive welding test(s).

A WELDER may be required to fabricate catwalks, pipelines, ductwork; construct, repair, or refurbish heavy metal structures; repair cracks; and deconstruct heavy metal structures, catwalks, pipelines, and ductwork. An experienced WELDER will be expected to convey his/her technical expertise, his/her aptitude for estimating material and time usage, his/her compliance with safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local, and company), and the importance of quality control. A WELDER must take direction well and maintain a professional demeanor. He/she must be committed to the success of PAL-CON, Ltd.

A WELDER must also be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools; lift and/or carry equipment, materials, and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; climb a ladder; understand, read, write, and speak English; establish and maintain effective working relationships; work in awkward positions, confined spaces, or outdoor environments for extended periods of time. A WELDER must be able and willing to travel when required.

A WELDER is required to have at least two years’ experience in a fast-paced construction site or industrial manufacturing environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; a Welding Certificate is preferred. A WELDER may be required to provide additional certifications or licenses depending on the area of assignment. A valid state driver’s license with current insurance coverage is preferred. A WELDER will take direction from and report to his/her immediate superintendent; he/she must follow the chain of command.

A WELDER’s rate of pay is scalable based on skill set. The standard work hours will be determined by the superintendent. Current shop hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM with a one-half hour lunch break; however, this position’s hours may vary depending on production requirements. This position is subject to a 90 day introductory period.
