Role: Welder, Visual Display (NOC 7237)
Salary: $28.00 – $32.00 /year and + may be eligible for salary increases, if applicable
Hours: 32 – 40 hours/week, Two (2) year fixed-term agreement
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

The Welder, Visual Display reports to the Visual Display Studio Manager, and works closely with the Visual Display team.

The job functions for this role will be based on the below areas of focus:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW)
  • Maintain and ensure all metal equipment is functioning properly and safely (repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment, if required)
  • Procurement of materials necessary to complete tasks
  • Managing the cleanliness and stock of the shop
  • Training and supervising other Visual Display employees
  • May adjust welding heads and tooling according to work specifications
  • Support with various production processes for Aritzia’s visual display windows (including painting, casting, assembling, allocating, preparing shipments, staging, pallets, etc.)·
  • Document order of operations, material consumption and labor for estimating production runs
  • Responsible for the process of translating creative vision into prototypes, production plans, cost estimates and installation processes
  • Facilitate test installs to document the right methods and materials required for successful installation at stores
  • Responsible for the physical creation of objects required by the visual display scope

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

The Welder, Visual Display will possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school
  • 2 – 4 years of Welding experience
  • Interprovincial Red Seal or CWB ticket is an asset
  • TIG, MIG, ARC and plasma cutting experience
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
  • Knowledge on steel fabrication techniques, steel grades and shapes
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Ability to train others
  • Production management experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross functional/departmental partners and teams
  • Excellent time management skills, planning and organizational skills, problem solving skills
