OTR-Canada specializes in the manufacturing, distribution & recertification of wheels and rims for mining, earthmover, construction, and forestry, agricultural and industrial machinery. At the present time our company is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Sault Ste. Marie team as a Welder (W-Tech)

Job Description:

Use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and Sub-Arc welding processes. The Welder will be required to perform random maintenance on returned products to be refurbished or re-worked to customer specifications, and have knowledge and skill in operating metalworking machinery. Additionally the Welder will be required to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions.

Terms of employment: permanent / full time

Salary: to be negotiated as per collective agreement

Demonstrates ability to prioritize, time management skills and organizational skills. Must pay attention to detail. Ability to meet all given deadlines. Ability to problem solve, make decisions, find information and willing to continuously learn. Willingness to work flexible hours depending on production demands.

Other Requirements:

Must be CWB ticketed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Follows strict standards by following OTR Wheel Engineering’s Quality Program, Work Instructions, processes and procedures an abide by ISO-9001-2015 requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW).
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, Benders and other rolling machines
  • Able to Grind proficiently
  • Various other duties assigned by management
