Job Description

Job Title: Welder Worker

Date: May 19, 2022

Job Summary:

Responsible for reading engineering and architectural drawings, sketches, and work specifications to be performed; and laying out, measuring, and welding metal according to drawings or templates.

Responsibilities:

  • Weld components using TIG welding equipment
  • Operate light metalworking machines such as shears, brakes, punches, drill presses and rotators, including welders to assembly various aircraft components
  • Use weld fixtures to accurately complete welded assemblies as per drawings and specifications
  • Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products
  • Grind and buff seams, joints, and rough surfaces
  • Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Perform all work in accordance with Health and Safety policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a related role
  • Certified Tig welder
  • Experience with welding, metal work in a welding environment
  • Ability to read drawings and work orders
  • Ability to successfully complete test of mechanical aptitude
  • Possess basic measuring and calculating skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours as required
  • Ability to concentrate on fine details and repetitious tasks for long periods
  • Ability to work alone as well as in a team
  • Ability to follow instructions

Educational or Academic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Sheet Metal Apprenticeship considered an asset
  • Successful completion of required weld sample tests as per ASTM 1595
